So, the admin that moved those pieces mentioned below in the original journal entry was kind enough to put up a poll to see if we should have a new "Pin-up" category. Here is the link: [link]

So, my latest series that I've just started posting, "Pin-up Fink", recently got moved. When I posted them I filed them under Photography > People & Portraits > Pin-up. An administrator moved them saying the following:

"...just wanted to let you know I had to move the new Pin Up fink pics you've submitted, while I love them (where the hell did you find those!!!!???!!!), they don't fit the pin up category..I put them in misc for now, maybe conceptual? even artistic nude dunno, but I'm really trying to keep the pin up cat to strictly old school..."

This administrator is a great guy and I have nothing against him, but here was my reply:

"I disagree with the move, but I guess its your call not mine. I filed it under Pin-up because throughout the shoot I had her do traditional pin-up poses. The only thing different from my normal pin-up shoots was that I threw a mask on her face. To me its still very much pin-up, just with a weird twist, so to me the Pin-up category was the perfect fit. I feel there is room for creative interpretation within the pin-up category and I don't understand how this wouldn't be considered Pin-up. Of course its not the traditional old school style of it, but in my eyes that doesn't make it any less "pin-up". I thought that category easily was the best fit for that set. Should people not be allowed to do their own creative thing within a certain genre and still have it be considered within that genre?

If you're wanting to keep the Pin-up category completely traditional, would it be an option to make a new category? Like, have one called Pin-up where people can post new school and more creative interpretations of the movement, and then have a Traditional Pin-up section that is strictly old school in nature. That makes more sense to me than saying this shoot can't be filed as Pin-up.

But that's just my opinion. "
